Rivermine and BBR Wireless Management Announce Strategic Merger

Expanded Company Fulfills Global Customer and Channel Partners' Demand for Leading Unified Wireline and Wireless Expense Management Solutions

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Taking a proven joint partnership to the next level, Rivermine, the leading provider of telecom expense management (TEM) solutions, today announced a merger with BBR Wireless Management, a premier wireless management innovator. The market front-runners merged to meet ongoing, high demand for unified wireline and wireless expense management solutions from global customers and channel partners. Coming together under the Rivermine name, the combined entity will have an installed base of over 225 companies.

"End user organizations tell us through our research that while they need both wireless and wireline expense management solutions, they prefer a unified vendor offering that addresses both sides of the coin," said Philippe Winthrop, research director for wireless and mobility at Aberdeen Group. "Rivermine stands among very few pure play TEM companies that are responding to the demand for a unified wireline and wireless expense management vision."

Since Rivermine and BBR Wireless Management's products and services were already seamlessly integrated as part of a partnership that was announced in the first quarter of 2007, little ramp-up time is required and both companies expect an effortless transition. Through the merger, Rivermine's full suite of TEM solutions will now include industry-proven individual wireline and wireless management products and services, as well as a unified solution that has already received strong analyst accolades.

"BBR Wireless Management has provided industry-leading ROI and we are excited to welcome them as a part of Rivermine. The combined company will allow us to satisfy the increased demand for unified wireless and wireline solutions across the globe," said Mark Logan, president and CEO, Rivermine. "This merger is a natural progression from our established partnership as it unites strategic teams, industry-acclaimed solutions and a shared philosophy of innovation."

In addition, the expanded company's global channel partners-including two of the largest IT outsourcing and systems integration firms with offices in more than 170 countries-will be able to deliver Rivermine's unified solutions to their massive domestic and international customer bases.

"The future of the new company is incredibly bright as Rivermine has both a sterling reputation in the market, and exceptionally high customer satisfaction results," said Jim Carroll, president and CEO, BBR Wireless Management. "Capitalizing on the key synergies between our products, services and management teams will allow us to bring even stronger wireless and wireline solutions to the marketplace."

The merger provides many benefits to the customers and channel partners of Rivermine and BBR Wireless Management, including:

  • Ability to address the full telecom lifecycle of wireline and wireless services, with a unified wireless and wireline TEM offering
  • Leading stand-alone wireless and wireline expense management solutions, including sourcing and contract negotiation, rate plan optimization, device management, help desk, service ordering, invoice processing, auditing, and analytics/reporting
  • A strong international offering and personnel in over 170 countries via major channel partners
  • Ability to leverage powerful software and managed services that are delivered by experts to maximize telecom savings and minimize labor costs
  • A well-funded company with a strong financial foundation and financial investors with over $3 billion under management
  • Large research and development investments to lead market innovation in both the wireless and wireline areas
  • Continued practice of providing unbiased customer advice by never accepting carrier commissions for wireless or wireline order activation

As part of the merger, Mark Logan will remain president and CEO, and Jim Carroll will assume the role of executive vice president of global wireless services. Ray Moncrief of The Southern Appalachian Fund, BBR Wireless Management's lead investor, will join Rivermine's board of directors. Although Rivermine's headquarters will remain in Fairfax, Va., full-force staffs at both the Fairfax and Louisville, Ky. offices will drive research and development, customer implementations and service, and overall market strategy.
